February 2021

Don’t mind me; I’m just writing up the review of February 11 days after March has begun, because I have been busy with very important matters. Like Wandavision and Futurama and ensuring I get a solid 14 hours sleep a night! Its called self care right?

February was believe it or not though a busy month for me. I had so much fun producing my last documentary that I’ve decided to produce again. Two times! The first project I’m working on is a student craft skills assignment, we’re recreating the testing scene from Blade Runner. We’re trying to add our own spin on it, so that’s fun! The other more exciting project is a fictional short film, which I’ve actually written, so film school is starting to pay off.

February was also the month most of us learned for the first time that it’s actually not legal to film someone smoking in Wales, a rather arbitary rule it may be, but it caused many people in the meeting to shuffle uncomfortable as I think we all have short films made up exclusively of people giving themselves long term health issues via cigarettes.
Myself included; my showreel has one very long shot of my friend Tom smoking (that was our fifth take in a row too) but that was filmed in England, where to quote our professor “Life is cheap“.

But February has been an enjoyable month all thing considered. Between procrastinating assignments and angling my webcam away from an unmade bed to give lecturers the illusion that my life is somewhat together, I’ve also had some fun. I’ve watched a lot of great films and even gotten outside once in a while, I even discovered horses while location scouting in Cardiff, which was quite the surprise, albeit a pleasant one; this is Dafydd!
